The frame includes a mat in the shape of a Tudor arch, a nod to an architectural detail that was popular in Shakespeare’s day. The back of the frame is wired and ready to hang.

Although Shakespeare wrote his plays to be enjoyed by the English masses, his works today are typically consigned to academic study. I believe his stories have universal appeal and are applicable to people of diverse backgrounds, very different from his original audience. In order to emphasize the universality of his stories, I created a series of book covers in which I recast his characters as people of color.
